About Kitt
“The artist sees what others only catch a glimpse of.” – Leonardo da Vinci
My hope is that my art translates my love of life and love of the process of making to the viewer so that they may share in the joy of expression, of light, of movement and texture that surrounds us. I want my work to make you smile, to make you feel, to take you away and bring you back to look at the world around you with fresh eyes.
Kitt’s love of art began young, learning from her father and then attempting to copy old master’s in her sketchbooks (they were, by and large, abysmal failures). In high school she became serious about pursuing a career in art and stacked her course load with as many classes as she could, taking summer courses as well. She applied to and was accepted into Moore College of Art and Design where she double-majored in Illustration and Art History. Notably, she was the first woman in Moore’s illustrious history to successfully complete a second major with Illustration. She also minored in graphic design, to round out her skill set.
Following college, she worked a variety of in-house design and illustration jobs while also freelancing. She was accepted into the Philadelphia Sketch Club and participated in juried shows with them before moving to VA. There she spent a year teaching art at a private school and tutoring Portfolio Prep classes for students looking to apply to art college before ultimately moving to GA in 2013.
Kitt has since established herself as a local artist specializing in portraits and still lifes. She continues to show multiple times a year while taking on limited freelance work while she raises her son and daughter.
